So it happened. For those that haven't heard yet in the last 24 hours, Visceral Games studios was closed down yesterday by our favorite publisher, EA! Fuck EA by the way. So with the "failure" of Dead Space 3, which if ANYONE was to blame, it was EA, and the failure of Battlefield Hardline, a game that sorely needed to NOT have the name "Battlefield" in it, the studio was closed down while working on a Star Wars title that still hasn't been named. This hasn't been the first time EA has done this, closing many great studios from Pandemic studios to Maxis studios. Absorbing title games like Sims, Battlefront, and so many others that they repurpose and give to other studios to #CODit. If a game doesn't make ALL the money, it's a failure, which is BULLSHIT. Dead Space and Dead Space 2 were games I played over and over again to get EVERY achievement on. Games that motivated me with others like Mass Effect 2 and Resident Evil 4 in wanting me to maybe make great games one day too. Experiences that stick with people young and old. Now it's no more, for no...good reason. I have a lot of negative things to say about EA, and I have a piece I'm finishing up about Madden coming up that I've really been planning out the last week or so because I'm tired of the BS, and I know many others are too. I think the most fucked up thing about this news, other than a great studio full of talented people being closed down, is that Amy Henning came from Naughty Dog while UC4 was being made if memory serves correct, to come work on a sort of Uncharted Star Wars game, being a bit more linear and third person. Something that VISCERAL GAMES knew a thing or two about, just play the first two DEAD SPACE titles to see this in action. The other real reason it leaves me with a bit of throw up in my mouth, is that if Anthem/Dragon Age 4 doesn't do well, I fear Bioware is next, and I'm not the only one to think this. I really thought EA MIGHT have learned something with Titanfall 2 and Battlefield 1 being great games and if you just keep your dick out of them, they will make you money. I get too that T2 was a Critical success for good reason, but not quite the Commercial one that EA wanted, but it's not like it sold like ABSOLUTE shit. Plus Battlefield 1 sold more than predicted, and EA was dumb enough to put those two games BACK TO BACK. But further more, fucking up Mass Effect aka Mess Effect, by not coming in and telling the studio to take a few more months to polish the damn thing. Also because they gave it the same damn budget as 3, with less help from what I read/heard. So fuck me, I guess if my voice even reaches ONE team, please, please, PLEASE, for the love of GOD, don't sign with EA. They will not only mess with whatever vision you have, but than blame you for the failure when fans get mad at getting one thing while being promised another. Also, fuck EA. You stupid, fucking bastards.
