Hi guys! I said a while back that I wanted to start using the blog again to write out articles when I didn't have time to make videos every other day or week and so for the first time in a long time, we are posting again on here to talk about the good ol' rumor mill. So while PS5 has had issues with getting consoles to it's customers, someone has decided to take it into their own hands to try and keep the hype alive. So recent leaker who accurately predicted God of War: Ragnarok, the highly anticipated sequel to the fantastic God of War (2018) has decided to come out of whatever cave in Afghanistan they are hiding in from Sony and grace us with not one, but two new rumors.
With his Moore's Law Is Dead YouTube channel, which I believe is actually where they upload their Podcast "Broken Silicon", they predicted that not only is Silent Hills being made exclusively for the PS5, but it is being made by none other then Kojima Productions, some nearly 5 years after it's cancelation by Konami. This leaker was so confident, that they stated that they can "almost confirm" that it is happening right now. Interesting. What makes it even more interesting though, is that supposedly, this announcement is suppose to happen soon.
Real soon.
Like Game Awards 2020 soon. Which I guess we will find out soon enough, seeing as that's like a week or so away. Seeing as Kojima and Game Awards host, Geoff Keighley, are known to be good friends, this announcement makes sense to happen here. This not only let's Geoff let his friend talk about his next project, but also gives the Game Awards a nice little treat to surprise us all with. Win win for both parties.
But what was added next is what grabbed my attention even more somehow.
The leaker went on to talk about Demon Soul's remake studio, Bluepoint Studios, next project. Their next project is suppose to be another Konami game and it's none other then a Metal Gear Solid remake. Yes, you read that right.
The leaker went on to even say one of the architect's of the PS5, Mark Cerny even has a hand in it, to make sure it goes off without a hitch and that it's been in development for about 3 years already. This one doesn't have a date in which they will talk about it yet, just a mentioning of "upcoming" events as they don't want to announce the game before it's ready like Microsoft did prematurely with Halo Infinite.
Now this is all rumor. So take it with a grain a salt, but once again, we will find out how much validity the rumors have soon enough with the Game Awards happening on December 10th.
Now I haven't had a chance to get my hands on Demon Souls yet, but from what I've heard and from what I've seen, Demon Souls is a fantastic remake, preserving what made it the badass game it was 10 years ago, while modernizing it and taking full advantage of the tech available today. So if anyone was going to remaster this masterpiece other then the original team themselves at this point, I'd have to put my faith in them.
Going back to the Silent Hills rumor, it's interesting that earlier this year, there was a group on Twitter called "Rely on Horror" who posted back in March 2020 that there was a Silent Hill reboot AND revival, but a lot of people brushed it off as there wasn't much to go on. However, with this new leak and sites such as Gamerant picking it up, it's starting to look more credible. They even said at one point that Sony was working to patch up the severed relationship between Kojima Productions and Konami themselves, considering the "continued buzz and demand for the game". However, it must also be noted that both parties have stated that the "rumors just simply aren't true" and "It's simply not true" which might have been true back in March and May when they were respectively stated, but could have easily changed since then. It's also worth to note that Kojima has flat out lied to news groups and outlets. So once again, December 10th can't come soon enough.
Honestly, if the two can patch up their relationship for this ONE release, it could be phenomenal and Konami could have their name attached to something amazing for the first time in nearly 6 years.
It's also important to point out that Konami needs SOME good will, as with the way they outed Kojima, destroyed their iconic franchises with "pachinko machine ventures" and "shitty outings/mobile games", and of course the reports that have come out of how they treat their workers, Konami is on thin ice here. So having two huge titles be taken over by two very competent studios with no real shadiness could give them back some ground they so desperately need if they would like to stay independent.
So this is a short one guys, but what do you think of the rumors? Do you think there is some truth, would you WANT them to be true? Let me know in any of my comment sections and stay tuned while I try and finish up some more articles and videos in the coming weeks. Love you guys, stay safe out there.
