So it's been a MONTH, so I feel it's safe to come out of my hole to talk a few spoilers about the movie, and talk about what I loved, and what I want to discuss that I've seen since the movie came out. So obviously if the title wasn't enough, and you are so busy with life you couldn't take 2 and a half hours out of your life to see this film, than please stay away, as I am talking spoilers, this is your last warning. SO, first off, holy shit. This movie was fantastic. From what I can tell, pretty much everyone that has seen it, has loved it, and why not? The movie is titled "Avengers: Infinity War" but really it's "Thano's and sons: Kicking ass, and taking names". Now I'll admit, watching Thano's go to town on some of these Avengers was straight up worth the price of admission by itself, but the fact that we had the FUCKING AVENGERS, ALL OF THEM, in the same movie fighting together was the cherry on top. The visuals, the sound, the story, everything soared, and the villain actually WON! Like he's suppose to people, come on now! But I wanted to address some of my thoughts about comments I've seen in comment sections and the like, and I want to see later on what you guys have to say about it. So the first one has to be "Why didn't Thanos just make more resources for the people?"
Well mate, let's see, maybe it's because he's a megalomaniac? I think this is a point I saw brought up the most, and I don't think people noticed that it's not actually a plot hole...it's a characterization. The way he has done things, by wiping out half of entire species has led certain planets to thrive and become utopia's. His way works in his eyes, why would he change it? The other part, simply comes down to the fact that I feel he doesn't feel people would appreciate it the same as being one of the "chosen few" who get to stay alive and rebuild. It's all about Thanos. He even mentions to Gamora briefly before he sacrifices her for the Soul Stone, that he had "compromised on his ideals before" and that he wouldn't "do it again". He feels this is what he MUST do, no matter what. So why would compromise and give people food and resources when all his life, he's done the opposite? The second thing I've seen, not as much, but enough I'll talk about it and open a discussion on it, is why Gamora, as valuable as she is, would go with Quill right to where Thanos is? I feel once again, that this point is lost on some people. It's a characterization. Gamora might have certain knowledge of a Stone, but she would never pass up an opportunity to face her adoptive father, and kill him once and for all. We know that's what she has wanted since Guardians 1. So why is it a surprise that even though she has something Thanos wants, and Quill and the audience aren't entirely sure of what it is, that she goes anyways? I hardly think she knew he would have recordings of her admitting this. Lastly, on things I want to fight others about, Quill and his fuck up. Now to yours truly, it wasn't a fuck up...well, not one out of character. A lot of people I saw were mad that me made a mistake in the film, called it "out of character". Who was the one person that Quill tried to sacrifice himself for? Gamora. Who was the one person that he loved on equal footing as his mother? Gamora. Remember in Guardians 2 when Quill was able to snap out of essentially mind control from his God of a father, Ego, at the mere mention of his father killing his mother with cancer. He lost his shit there too. There are two things Quill is known for, and really, it's his human side coming out, is fucking up his own plans, and being passionate about the ones he loves. It's totally in his character, and I think it's silly that people are mad about it.
One thing that hit me hard though, was at the end of the movie, and I'm sure it hit everyone hard, because let's face it, nobody wants to see someone die, Spider-mans death hit me fairly hard. Not only did Tom sell it so well, and if it's to believed, ad lib to Hell and back too. It's one of the last convos Tony had with Peter in Homecoming when he first takes the suit away. For those who don't remember, let me refresh you with the first like...1:20 of said clip... https://youtu.be/X21n9IkoXWA
Remember that? "If you die, that lands on me" do you think Tony felt that at the end? I hope that the Brothers Grimm, oops, I mean, the Russo Brothers (Freudian slip I swear) remembered that scene and knew that they had to have it. Other things that I loved? Thor meeting the Guardians. Absolutely great. Everything I wanted between meeting a God and a bunch of lovable misfits. Quill getting jealous of Thor too? Priceless. Jokes abound, and of course "Rabbit!".
Also, in case you missed it "James Gunn" edition. Someone recently asked James what Groot's last words to Rocket were and he simply stated "Father?" How about that for a punch to the stomach? So where do we go from here? Well my theory is that everyone we saw die in the Infinity War will come back by the end of Avengers 4. However, with it, will come great sacrifice. We will see a lot of our favorite heroes die probably by the end, as a trade off. But, what's more fitting than watching the original Avengers do what they do best? Avenge. I love the synergy with that from the first Avengers film, harkening back to when it all started with the bread crumbs. I also believe that Captain Marvel will have a huge effect on Avengers 4 as well, maybe even Ant Man and the Wasp. Why have those 2 movies smack dab in between 3 and 4? Also, why have an end credits scene focused entirely on the calling OF Captain Marvel? I believe that, even though Adam Warlock is in the universe, thanks to the brief cameo/mention in Guardians 2, that Captain Marvel will play the role of Adam and beat Thanos ass in the end. She is Superman-ish in the comics, and depending on how they want to tell her story, she should be just as powerful in the movies. So this was a brief little review/spoiler discussion I wanted to whip up because I really loved Avengers: IW and I really have no complaints except ONE, and that's that the Asgardians were saved 8 months ago, to die pretty damn tragically really fucking quick. What the fuck? But otherwise, to me, it's one of the perfect summer blockbuster movies out there. Final Review: 10/10 and when it comes out, it deserves to be on your shelf, get a collectors edition if you can! What did you think? Did anything bug you? Was it anything I brought up? Have a differing opinion? Let me know, let's discuss in any of my comments sections. What grade would you give it? Let me know! Alright, til next time, I'll see you On The Shelf.
